What being a VidPlate Designer involves

You stay freelance and keep working in After Effects. VidPlate brings you a steady stream of paid work, handles the client relationship, and pays you for what you complete.

The Creative Collective is built for experienced motion designers who already have client work, an agency job, or their own studio and want extra income on the side. You claim work when you have spare capacity, nothing more.
Our automation runs the order, you run After Effects
VidPlate’s automation system handles the client order - brand assets, copy, and field data are already populated. You process it through VidPlate Studio, which plugs straight into your existing copy of After Effects.

Who we're looking for

The collective stays deliberately small. We only bring in designers we trust to deliver consistently exceptional work with minimal back-and-forth - if that's you, we want to hear from you.

Expert in After Effects
You know your way around After Effects inside and out - scripting and expressions experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
Makes the complex simple
You can take a brief and turn it into something clean, legible, and easy for clients to use, without losing the creative edge.
Proven short-form ad experience
A track record producing short-form ad or motion content, with a personal style that still fits within technical constraints.
Note: The Creative Collective is open to individual freelance designers only - we're not able to accept applications from agencies or studios.

How it works

From joining the collective to getting paid, the whole workflow runs through the Designer Portal and the VidPlate Studio extension inside After Effects.

Browse the work
See every open client job and template brief in the Designer Portal.
Claim it
Pick what you want to work on. You can only hold one active job and one active brief at a time.
Build and submit
Do the work in After Effects, then submit your project and previews from VidPlate Studio.
Review and get paid
The VidPlate team reviews your submission and pays approved work out monthly.

Jobs and Template Briefs

Two different types of paid work live in the Designer Portal, and you can pick up either one depending on what you feel like working on.

Jobs

Real VidPlate client orders. Your job is to process the order using an already-created VidPlate template and make sure the finished content is pixel perfect before it goes back to the client.

  • Claim one job or a batch of up to 4 orders at a time from the queue
  • A 6-hour window to complete and submit each claim - ideal for topping up in your spare time
  • All processed through VidPlate Studio, straight from your After Effects install
  • Submit for admin review, then it is paid out on your monthly ledger
Template Briefs

Bespoke VidPlate templates the team needs building from scratch for clients to use, briefed out for a designer to design and build in After Effects.

  • Claim an open brief - the text, content, and styling fields you need are pre-built for you
  • A 7-day window to build the template and submit your package
  • Build and test it through VidPlate Studio, which runs automatic testing custom to your template so you can check it works before you submit
  • Submit your .zip, 1:1, 9:16, and 16:9 previews, and notes for review
  • Approved templates become part of the VidPlate library every client can use

Payments

Everything you complete is tracked automatically, so payday is just a matter of sending your invoice.

Monthly payouts
Approved job and template brief earnings are paid out by bank transfer once a month, alongside any affiliate commission owed to you.
Submit your invoice
Upload your PDF invoice for the month directly in the Designer Portal, matched against the jobs you completed.
Track every job
A running ledger shows every completed job, its value, and its payout status so nothing gets lost.

Affiliate programme

Every designer gets their own affiliate code. Bring VidPlate a new client and you earn commission on top of your job and brief payouts.

10% off for who you refer
Share your affiliate code or link. Clients who sign up through you get 10% off their first payment automatically.
Commission on every referral
Earn 5% commission once the client’s payment clears the refund window, plus a further 5% bonus on monthly-plan clients who stay active for 3 months.
First refusal on their jobs
For six months after a referral, that client’s submitted jobs are automatically assigned to you first.
